About

For the 2026 season, Joey will be taking on his second season in Spec MX-5 with one goal: to win. Alongside his Spec MX-5 campaign, he plans to get behind the wheel of as many different cars as possible, seizing every opportunity to learn and grow.

In 2025, Joey had the honor to drive in Spec MX-5 for the Mazda Motorsports Factory Club Racing Team. He also drove for Advanced Autosports at Homestead, Sebring, Watkins Glen, and Road America. While the season was filled with many difficult learning moments, he ended the year on an upward trajectory with a P9 finish at the SCCA Runoffs at Road America.

Joey’s 2024 season marked his second year in Spec Miata with Hicks Motorsports. It ended in spectacular fashion by securing both the NASA SoCal Spec Miata championship and the NASA SoCal Teen Mazda Challenge championship. To top off an incredible year, he was named one of the 2024 Mazda Spec MX-5 Shootout winners.

In 2023, Joey made his debut in Spec Miata, racing with Hicks Motorsports in NASA SoCal Spec Miata and Teen Mazda Challenge. He achieved significant milestones, finishing P3 in both the overall championship and the Teen Mazda Challenge subcategory, while also being the highest-finishing rookie.

In 2022, Joey kicked off the year by winning the A-Main in the first round of the CalSpeed Karting Sprint Series. He went on to secure 3rd place in the Tri-C Karters LO206 Senior class during his rookie season and competed in his first national karting event. The year concluded with the Machismo 12-Hour endurance race and his first Spec Miata test.

In 2021, Joey finished P4 in the CalSpeed Karting Sprint Series SE Championship and P10 in his first-ever endurance event, the Machismo 12-Hour. Beyond the track, he interned at WRTeknica and Late Night Playset, where he actively networked within the automotive and motorsport communities.

In 2020, Joey earned his first two karting podiums and used the COVID-19 lockdown to focus on sim racing, further improving his skills. He also hosted the Porsche Club of America’s Virtual California Festival of Speed, interviewing notable guests such as Patrick Long.

In 2019, Joey began racing karts on outdoor circuits for the first time, a significant step in his motorsport journey. This was preceded by a pivotal moment in 2018 when he won a trip to the US Grand Prix, igniting his passion for racing.

Joey’s interest in motorsports began at age 11 after watching Top Gear and aspiring to emulate “The Stig.” He adopted the nickname “The Stiglette."
